Introduction of New Bi – Weekly Silambu Express Train between Chennai Egmore and Manamadurai of Southern Railway

To fulfill passengers’ demand and for the convenience of the passengers and with an aim to clearing passengers rush in Chennai  and Manamadurai route, a new Bi- weekly, Silambu express Train No. 16181 / 16182 Chennai Egmore  – Manamadurai – Chennai Egmore, which was announced by the Hon’ble Minister for Railways  in the Railway Budget 2013 – 14  Southern Railway has decided to inaugurate the Bi - weekly Silambu express train between Chennai Egmore  and Manamadurai. The inaugural special run will be flagged off from Manamadurai Railway station on 22/06/2013 at 20.15 hrs. by Sri Thiru P. Chidambaram, Hon’ble Union  Minister of Finance in presence ofCe,  and Sri M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, Hon’ble  Member of Parliament, Secunderabad in presence of Central / State Ministers, MLAs and in presence of other dignitaries.

The inaugural Bi – weekly special Silambu express Manamadurai to Chennai Egmore   will leave Manamadurai at 20.15 hrs. and reach at Chennai Egmore on the next day. 

      

    On regular service of the Train No.16181 from Chennai Egmore to Manamadurai Bi - weekly Silambu express train will run from Chennai Egmore  with effect from 26/06/2013 and Train No.16182  from Manamadurai to Chennai Egmore Bi - weekly Silambu expressress with effect from  27/06/2013.

Running schedule of the Bi – weekly Silambu express train from Chennai Egmore to Manamadurai : Train will leave Chennai Egmore at 20.20 hrs. on every Wednesday and Saturday  with effect from 26/06/2013. Train will reach at Manamadurai at 07.45 hrs. on the next  day.

Running schedule of the Bi – weekly Silambu express train from Manamadurai to Chennai Egmore : Train will leave Manamadurai at 20.15 hrs.on every Thursday and Sunday  with effect from27/06/2013.  Train will reach at Chennai Egmore  at 06.05 hrs. on the next  day.

The Train No. 16181 / 16182 Chennai Egmore – Manamadurai - Chennai Egmore Bi – weekly Silambu express train will stop at the following Stations : Tambaram, Chegalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Villupuram, Vriddhcahalam, Tiruchchirapalli, Pudukottai,  Chettinand, Karaikkudi Jn., Devakottai Road and stations in both the directions.

Composition of the Train No. 16181 / 16182 Chennai Egmore – Manamadurai - Chennai Egmore Bi – weekly Silambu express train: One AC – 2 – tier, two AC – 3- tier, six Sleeper Class, six General Second Class and and  two Luggage cum Brake Van Coaches.
